Five Must Eats When Traveling To Joshua Tree National Park

One of the best kept secrets of 29 Palms and Joshua Tree is the burgeoning food scene. From Jamaican to American to Mexican, visitors to these respective areas will find good eats, drinks and great company. Here are our 5 top must eats when traveling to Joshua Tree National Park.

1. Campbell Hill Bakery

This 29Palms bakery serves up the most delicious homemade breads and pastries making it our top spot for the most important meal of the day. Our love for Campbell Hill Bakery goes beyond its baked goods, we also adore the backstory of their name. When the owners (Travis and Nancy) would visit 29Palms prior to opening their bakery, they would visit Campbell Hill (named after the 1920s homesteaders Bill and Elizabeth Campbell) to watch both the amazing sunrises and sunsets. The bakery serves as an homage to their passion for food and 29Palms. Make sure to pick up extra breakfast and sourdough provisions on Saturday because they are closed Sundays.

Our Favorite: Croissant Breakfast Sandwich. You can also pick up one of the tasty to-go sandwiches for a park picnic.

WKNDR Tip: Get there early. The line starts to snake by 9 am on Saturdays.

Don’t drive too fast down 29Palms Highway or you might miss this longtime favorite. For more than 20 years, The Rib Co. has been saucing and serving up the best barbeque in the area, including ribs, brisket, chicken, steak, and burgers. And if you are not a carnivore or just looking for something on the lighter side, don’t worry, the expansive menu also includes salads and seafood. Also did we mention the corn muffins and honey butter.
